Have you heard of Maud’s Cafe? It’s a new coffee shop and cafe in the newly constructed buildings on the west side of the 900 south corridor in Salt Lake City.
We first saw Maud’s Cafe on Instagram and were enticed by their photos of drinks, pretty potted plants and a cool looking space. But Maud’s is more than your average coffee shop.
They offer an 8-12 week employment training program for the youth from Volunteers of America, Utah’s Homeless Youth Resource Center and Young Men’s and Women’s Transition Homes. So when you buy a coffee, purchase a mug or eat some freshly made food at Maud’s you’re not only supporting Salt Lake City’s economy but you’re supporting some of Salt Lake’s City’s homeless youth who through Maud’s Cafe’ support are learning how to contribute to our community and work towards self-sufficiency. It’s a win-win situation!
There’s ample seating and good lighting, freshly potted green plants on the tables (these lovely arrangements are also for sale) and it’s a great spot for meetings, lunch dates, or solo work hours on the computer. They have ready made items in the pastry case but they also have a food menu with items like avocado toast, oatmeal, grilled cheese and salads.
Maud’s Cafe is open Monday through Friday from 7am- 5pm and Saturdays from 9am- 1pm
They’re located at 422A West 900 South in Salt Lake City, Utah
