Blooming Beautiful…

November 4, 2014
Downtown Salt Lake is buzzing with unique businesses opening on and around Broadway – the area’s most aptly named street.’Crude’ officially opened its doors three weeks ago. Located within Downtown’s premier condo complex, Broadway Park Lofts (BPL), chief esthetician Denise waxes lyrical as to the simple, master tasking brilliance of her oils (and your soon-to-be-glowing skin); and she tints and waxes where you need it most. A couple doors down are fellow healthy living lobbyists, ‘Vive Juicery’, extracting every drop of cleansing and detoxifying goodness from local produce into delicious libations.
(360 West Broadway, units 204 and 210 respectively).
Fuzz-free and squeaky clean inside and out, you may want to refuel at ‘La Barba’ – Charming Beard’s opening-any-day-now coffee joint, complete with black and white tessellated tiles to uphold your nostalgic penchant for all things charming and caffeine-related. Night owls will love the seven-day midnight closing time. Refurbishment delays thwarted the official Saturday, 1 November opening, but keep a watchful eye and attentive ear out.

Downtown is all about convenience. La Barba’s upstairs neighbors include ‘Finca’ and her yet-to-be-named sister diner. (Yes, the Sugarhouse Spanish-themed, farm-to-table institution has made the move downtown. Are you feeling the need to do same?) That makes three foodie establishments in one historic building. Come December, you may have to join the queue.

Fresh-faced, fuzz-free and fully charged might have you feeling frisky, as you jaunt along the sidewalk to ‘The Dahlia Room’. This inviting den of lurve and seduction stocks locally crafted exotic lingerie, toys and gadgets and an array of literature. Jennifer and Kat will have you riled and ready for playtime.

‘The People’s Coffee’ is but a few doors down from The Dahlia Room. Opting to grind Caffe Ibis and Publik beans, the baristas know their craft (take-home packs are also available), and they serve until 10pm every day (opening at 7am on weekdays and 8am at the weekend). Substantial food offerings will soon appear but for now, Eva’s pastries and cookies sate devotees’ sweet and savory appetites.
